Issues Paper - improving access to quality financial advice

In May 2015, the Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs released an Issues Paper that sought feedback on key issues and opportunities to improve access to quality financial advice.

Summary

The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) with input from the Financial Markets Authority (the FMA), the Commission for Financial Capability and the Treasury is reviewing the Financial Advisers Act (FA Act) and the Financial Service Providers (Registration and Dispute Resolution Act 2008 (FSP Act).

Submissions

Submissions closed on 22 July 2015 and a total of 166 submissions were received. They represent the views of a wide range of businesses, representative organisations and individuals.

Submitters who wished to remain anonymous are referred to as anonymous submitter. Redactions have been made in accordance with the Official Information Act 1982 and the Privacy Act 1993 and when content may be defamatory. Five submitters requested for their submission to remain confidential. These submissions have not been published.
