| Community Energy Action | Love Your Home 2021/2022 | Funding will enable Community Energy Action (CEA) to extend its existing ‘Love Your Home’ and ‘Home Energy Check’ initiatives, focusing on Mid-Canterbury and the West Coast. These initiatives provide energy advice and education through in-home assessments and community events. Households receive recommendations on how to improve energy efficiency and other strategies that may lead to energy savings. CEA will provide free energy-saving items, which can include LED downlights, curtains and insulation. | $58,000 |
| Ecobulb Limited and Maru Trust | North King Country Energy Hardship Pilot |
This initiative will expand Ecobulb’s 2021 energy reduction pilot with King Country Electric Power Trust that helped 1522 households save on their power bills. Energy assessors will provide personalised advice either in-home or through drop-in expos, to help make homes in north King Country warmer and more energy efficient, and save on power bills. Households will receive free Ecobulb LEDs, screw-in downlights and energy-efficient showerheads. |

| Habitat for Humanity – Northern Region | Health and Energy Efficient Home Intervention programmes including Winter Warmer Pack delivery |
Staff will be trained to undertake home assessments for low-income whānau across Northland, Greater Auckland and Hauraki Gulf islands. They will also help with minor house repairs and provide energy education material and advice. Funding will be used to deliver more free Winter Warmer Packs that contain items such as hot water bottles, blankets and hygrometers, and expand its curtain bank service in Auckland. | $133,000 |
| Northpower Limited | Energy Advice/Community Outreach Programme: lifting Northlanders out of energy hardship |
Northpower will work with trusted partners to provide personalised electricity advice and support to households in need in the Whangārei and Kaipara districts. This will include practical help resolving electricity safety issues, undertaking home energy assessments, and providing free LED lightbulbs and draught stoppers. Northpower will reach whānau through in-home visits, community hui, its call centres and website. | $55,000 |
| SEA – Sustainable Energy Advice Limited | Home Energy Assessment Tool kits for community providers supporting hard-to-reach households | SEA – Sustainable Energy Advice will train trusted service providers in the Wellington region to use its Home Performance Assessment Toolkits to assess households’ energy use and identify where savings can be made. Households will be given personalised advice and information, free energy-saving items and be connected to other relevant support services or agencies. This initiative is targeting hard-to-reach households. | $150,000 |
| SEED NZ | Whānau Power – we are the whānau we serve |
SEED will draw on a kaupapa Māori approach to provide energy advice to whānau in Te Tairāwhiti/the East Coast and Ōtautahi/Christchurch. SEED will train kaihāpai/staff to evaluate the health of participants’ homes. Sensors will be installed to capture data, then used to design interventions to help households access other service providers such as curtain banks. SEED will also hold wānanga in 6 regions around the country. | $100,000 |
| Sustain & Enable | Reducing Energy Poverty Amongst the Elderly in Auckland |
This initiative will provide energy education and support to elderly people in Auckland to reduce their energy costs while creating warmer, healthier, more liveable homes. Sustain & Enable provides assistance through remote and in-home assessments, advice, interventions, and follow-up support, and supplies energy-saving devices such as timers, LEDs and efficient showerheads, using remote sensors to capture real-time data that helps households respond to any unhealthy indoor environmental conditions. | $105,000 |
| Sustainability Options | He Whare Mahana – He Whānau Ora | This initiative focuses on helping larger, low-income households reduce their hot water heating costs. Sustainability Options will partner with existing healthy housing programmes in the Bay of Plenty to provide energy-saving devices such as low-flow showerheads and energy education workshops. | $102,000 |
| Sustainability Options | Increasing energy wellbeing through minor repairs and education Western Bay of Plenty | Funding will expand the 20 Degrees programme in Western Bay of Plenty that focuses on housing repairs to create warm, dry homes. The expanded programme will also include working with households to develop energy reduction plans, providing free energy-saving devices, and running in-home and community DIY workshops. Sustainability Options will also provide energy education to community providers already working with households in need. | $150,000 |
| Te Pūtahitanga o Te Waipounamu | Extending the Navigation approach through energy education and the supply of energy efficient products |
Funding will be used to incorporate an energy education component into the existing Navigation approach that operates across Te Waipounamu/the South Island, as well as Rakiura/Stewart Island and Rekohu/Wharekauri/the Chatham Islands. Whānau Ora Navigators will be trained to become Energy Champs supplying free LEDs to households and offering personalised information and advice. Wānanga will also run energy education for households. | $95,000 |
| Tenants Protection Association | Providing tenants free Home Performance Assessments in Canterbury | Funding will be used to train Tenants Protection Association staff to become Home Performance Advisors. Certified staff will provide free assessments for tenants in Canterbury to identify improvements to make homes warmer and drier, and provide advice and support to address any issues. | $57,000 |
| Vinnies Hamilton | Vinnies Healthy Homes Programme Extension |
SEEC Programme funding will enable Vinnies to expand its Healthy Homes Programme to reach more vulnerable households across Waikato. Through this initiative, certified consultants will deliver healthy homes assessments and work with households to develop a plan to make their home warmer and drier. They will also support households to receive affordable energy by ensuring they are on the right plan and provide referrals to curtain banks. | $100,000 |
| Waitara Initiatives Supporting Employment (WISE Charitable Trust) |
Warmer Homes and Illness Prevention Installation Team’ (WHIPIT) | WISE Charitable Trust works with community services, health providers and others in Taranaki to identify households experiencing energy hardship. Home Performance Advisors will provide energy education and advice to these households to help them create healthier homes and lower their power bills. The Trust will also employ its install team to make improvements to keep homes warmer, drier and healthier. This can include remediation work such as installing thermal curtains, washing lines, draught proofing, cylinder wrapping and clearing foliage away from a house and gutter cleaning. Devices to monitor temperature and humidity and other energy-saving devices will also be installed. | $140,000 |
| Whare Ora Development Trust | Matekuare Whānau Trust: Marae-based Energy Education Programme |
Educational workshops will be held at four marae in Rotorua and Te Urewera to assist households in energy hardship. The workshops will cover energy awareness and costs, energy management, and solar-based hot water heating. Households will receive a follow-up in-home energy audit, personalised energy plan, energy-saving advice and equipment pack. | $120,000 |
