About the Tourism Policy Statement
The Statement sets out a direction to achieve the key goals of the Tourism Growth Roadmap: doubling the 2023 export value of tourism by 2034 and growing the number of Kiwis in tourism and hospitality jobs.
It defines how central and local government and industry each have key roles to play in delivering shared objectives for the whole tourism system.
For each objective, the Statement sets out actions for all participants in the tourism system. Government is responsible for many of the actions, but not all of them. The actions will be prioritised and sequenced over the coming years. Implementation plans covering three-year periods will be developed to be transparent about how actions will be progressed.
