Funding was allocated through multiple funding rounds with the final set of projects announced in September 2023. The Fund is now closed.
In June 2025 we consulted on proposals to introduce or update Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS) and Mandatory Energy Performance Labelling (MEPL) requirements across a range of product classes under the Energy Efficiency (Energy Using Products) Regulations 2002.
This page sets out the 2025/26 levy rates for the petroleum or engine fuel monitoring levy, and the gas safety, monitoring, and energy efficiency levy. It also explains how the levies are calculated and how the levy was broadened after consultation.
In August 2020, the Government established a new fund to trial renewable energy technologies on Māori and public housing. Funding has been allocated and the majority of installations are expected to be complete by the end of 2024. This initiative is part of a suite of government initiatives to improve energy affordability and create warm, healthy and energy efficient homes.
