Government agencies are committed to paying 90% of domestic invoices within 10 working days.

This increases to 95% from 1 January 2026 as outlined in New Zealand Government Procurement Rule 51A.

  • This is the first time wider government have been required to report on their payment times.
  • 96.1% of invoices were paid within 10 working days. A positive result for the first quarterly reporting round.
  • 78 of the 111 agencies surveyed are paying more than 90% of their invoices within 10 working days.
