Low hydro lake levels require continued reliance on coal and gas for electricity
The Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Employment (MBIE) published an Interim Hydrogen Roadmap (the Interim Roadmap) on 9 August 2023 to test initial positions and proposed actions, on the role of hydrogen as part of New Zealand’s energy transition.
We carry out weekly monitoring of national average prices and retail importer margins for regular petrol, premium petrol, and diesel. This data is updated weekly, using the previous week's data.
In late 2023, we sought feedback on policy that will set the direction and pace of change for energy in New Zealand.
