Notes

  • Indirect charges that only apply on LPG produced from certain oil and gas fields (such as the Energy Resources Levy or ERL) are not included here.
  • The National Land Transport Fund tax is a duty levied under the Customs and Excise Act 2018. It is also sometimes referred to as Fuel Excise Duty (FED), or Petrol Excise Duty (PED) when applied to petrol. The revenue from this tax goes towards the National Land Transport Fund which is administered by the New Zealand Transport Agency.
  • The National Land Transport Fund tax is reduced by 25 cents a litre for a period of 3 months starting from 15th March 2022.
  • Diesel is not subject to National Land Transport Fund tax. This is because diesel vehicles are subject to road user charges (RUC), which go toward the National Land Transport Fund.
