Energy efficiency and renewable energy programmes

We’re responsible for advising the Government on energy efficiency and renewable energy policy for New Zealand. The Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA) is responsible for implementing programmes to improve the energy efficiency and increase the use of renewable energy by New Zealand homes and business.

Current state: Gender and ethnic pay and workforce representation

To report on MBIE’s pay gap, data analysis has been completed on criteria including gender and ethnic by pay gap, and representation of the workforce and leadership by levels of seniority.

Spotlight on completed projects

The Māori and Public Housing Renewable Energy Fund was set up in 2020 to trial renewable energy solutions that aimed to improve energy affordability, and help create warm, healthy and energy efficient homes.
