Face-to-Face Interpreting Service

In July 2021, MBIE is establishing a new national model for agencies to access Face-to-Face interpreting services more effectively and efficiently across New Zealand.

The new model will be underpinned by a panel of professional language service providers streamed by geographical location, language (community languages, te reo Māori and New Zealand Sign Language) and where appropriate speciality (health interpreting, legal interpreting or no speciality). The new model will be launched in July 2021. Agencies’ participation is voluntary as is the case for the TIS/VIS.

Our Request for Proposals closed on 9 February 2021. We received a strong response from the market in regard to Community and Sign Language groups. Responses were received to the te reo language group in conjunction with Community Languages. Evaluation and negotiation are under way.
