The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) has confirmed the reappointment of Tristan Gilbertson as Telecommunications Commissioner and Member of the Commerce Commission.
Consultation on proposed changes to the government’s Deed of Understanding with NZ Post closed on 10 December. The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) has received a total of 1,546 submissions, including submissions sent to the Minister for Media and Communications that have been passed on to MBIE.
The Government has today announced that contracts have been signed with New Zealand’s 3 major telecommunications network operators to accelerate the roll-out of 5G services and improve rural connectivity.
The Government has announced it is working with New Zealand’s 3 major network operators (Spark, Vodafone and 2degrees) and shared network infrastructure provider Dense Air to enable improvements to rural connectivity and the accelerated roll-out of 5G services to small towns across New Zealand.
The Government has released Te Rautaki Matihiko mō Aotearoa – The Digital Strategy for Aotearoa, setting out a vision and plan to support New Zealand’s people, communities, economy, and environment to flourish and prosper in the digital era.
MBIE’s purpose is to grow Aotearoa New Zealand for all. Including 1 in 4 New Zealanders that identify as disabled and have a right to accessible information.
