It gives me great pleasure to present the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment’s (MBIE) 2020/21 Annual Report.

Our year in review

Everything we do at MBIE supports our purpose to Grow Aotearoa New Zealand for All. What we do for New Zealand is broad and far reaching. We touch the lives of New Zealanders every day – we grow opportunities (Puāwai), act as a guardian and protect (Kaihāpai), and innovate to navigate towards a better future (Auaha).

The way we work

MBIE is a large ministry with an ambitious and rewarding purpose – to Grow New Zealand for All. Everything we do at MBIE is about growing our economy and improving the lives and living standards of New Zealanders.

MBIE outcomes

This section explains the work MBIE carried out in 2020/21 to contribute towards the achievement of five outcomes, which were re-confirmed in our recently published Strategic Intentions 2021-2025. These outcomes articulate our contribution to making Aotearoa New Zealand a better place.
