As a Business Intelligence Developer/Analyst you will work closely with the Business units throughout Te Whakatairanga Service Delivery, and across MBIE, to bring these opportunities to life by developing the structure, reports and objects which allow us to deliver data back to our audiences in formats which give the business the critical insights required for them to be confident in their decision making.

Your ability to translate requirements into effective reports and dashboards will have a significant impact on the perceived value of the Business Intelligence team. Your pride in your work will mean you are designing and modelling our data warehouse solutions in a robust manner, always with best practice always in mind.

The wider Te Whakatairanga Service Delivery team enable and empower the functions of our core business through effective use of technology; the implementation of services and systems which strengthen the way our Ministry delivers services, delivers on the outcomes required by Government.

Ngā herenga – Requirements of the role

Personal specifications

  • You will be seen to be an expert in the field of data warehousing and Business Intelligence development.
  • Must have excellent Data Modelling skills and experience.
  • Knowledge of BIML Flex, SAP Business Objects, Azure Data Factory exposure, Azure Dev ops preferred but not necessary.
  • Good working knowledge of SQL and Technically well aware of Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence Land scape.
  • You will have the ability to design and develop smart business outcomes from complex data sources using the tools utilised by the Business Intelligence Team.
  • You will become a trusted advisor to our diverse Stakeholder base.
  • You will have clear communication skills.
  • You will preferably have a tertiary qualification in a related subject, or relevant work experience.
  • You must have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand and be able to satisfy the Ministry’s security clearance requirements.

  • The reporting you deliver is easy to consume, you are actively looking for ways to improve the usability of the Ministry’s data.
  • Both you and the wider team are adding value to the Service Transformation Team and to the Ministry by genuinely taking ownership of the systems it designs and delivers.
