Tēnei tūranga – About the role

The Quality Assurance Assessor (Assessor) is a team member position in MBIE. 

The Assessor supports the Senior Quality Assurance Advisor and the Managed Isolation Group by assessing and providing assurance over the frameworks and processes within the Managed Isolation and Quarantine system, and highlights issues affecting the quality of those frameworks, processes and decisions. The Assessor will bring their business understanding and perspective to work in partnership with their manager and other team members. Where appropriate, the Assessor also escalates quality related issues from both internal and external stakeholders via the Senior Quality Assurance Advisor, and works with the wider Service Quality and Assurance team and the business to implement effective responses to these issues. The role involves liaison with other teams in terms of finding ways to improve the overall quality of MIQ frameworks, processes and decision making.

Personal specifications

  • Experience in working at the front line of Managed Isolation and Quarantine Facilities is advantageous.
  • Good knowledge of quality metrics and assurance processes, and an understanding of how they impact upon the delivery of services.
  • Ability to quickly assimilate new information or areas of work.
  • Ability to quickly establish and build strong working relationships.
  • Good communication skills including the ability to write succinctly and think critically about an issue.
  • Proven ability to develop trust and credibility with managers and staff in a multi-agency environment.
  • The ability to assess, collate and analyse information so that it is clear what the issue is, how it affects the delivery of services, what has happened previously, and identify what possible solutions or interventions could be deployed.
  • An understanding of MBIE and where the team fits in delivering outcomes for MIQ/the Ministry.
  • Required to drive.

Qualifications 

  • Tertiary qualification in relevant discipline preferred and/or comparable relevant experience.

Other

  • The ability to gain and maintain a national security clearance as required
  • Must be a NZ citizen or hold a residence class visa

Delivers quality results which contribute to the Ministry’s outcomes

The Assessor will be required to deliver results in the following areas:

  • Perform quality and assurance assessments
    • Perform a variety of quality and assurance assessments when required e.g., control testing, quarterly or targeted quality assessments
    • Report on results in a timely manner
    • Perform peer reviews on assessments where appropriate
    • Work with other assessors and business analysts to develop appropriate feedback to facilities in respect to assessments
  • Contribute to any new Quality Assurance Team initiatives
    • Work with team members and other parts of MIQ to develop quality initiatives i.e. systemic assessment and assurance reporting across the controls and assurance framework
  • Work together to find ways to improve the quality of work done in the Managed Isolation and Quarantine Operating Model
