The Talent Acquisition Lead Projects and Deployment is responsible for leading a small team focusing on:

  • delivery of projects stemming from Te Ara Amiorangi, the People Strategy, our Employee sprints and Te Kawa Mataaho related to recruitment, sourcing, and workforce.
  • the deployment of our people across MBIE and the Public Sector.

The Talent Acquisition Lead drives the thinking and delivery on this work. They will work closely with the Innovation team, Māori Capability and Inclusion and Diversity teams and wider People and Culture to deliver on their work programme.

Personal specifications

  • Experience in leading a high performing team.
  • Extensive track record of delivering high quality talent acquisition advice and services.
  • Experience planning and delivering significant and complex pieces of work - projects, with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong technical recruitment skills (i.e., behavioural interviewing, knowledge of testing and employment checking etc.)
  • Experience partnering with business to understand their needs and develop talent acquisition strategies to suit.
  • Proven ability to quickly establish and build strong working relationships, including senior leaders.
  • Strong influencing skills.
  • An understanding of government decision making and recruiting environment would be beneficial.
  • Must have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand.

Takohanga tuhinga o mua – Key accountabilities and deliverables

Leadership

  • Oversight and leadership of the day-to-day work of the team.
  • Appropriately assigns tasks and projects and monitors and reports on progress to ensure deliverables and timeframes are met.
  • Leads the team in a way that inspires trust, respect, and continuous improvement in performance.
  • Provides coaching and mentoring to the Projects and Deployment team to support the delivery of strategic sourcing and project activities.

Deployment

  • Develops the frameworks - processes to ensure the smooth and fair deployment of our people into other roles.
  • Works closely with key stakeholders to identify people available to be deployed as required.

Partnership

  • Works in partnership with teams within People and Culture (Innovation, Māori Capability and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) and across the Public Sector to deliver on the programme of work.
  • Works closely with the HoPs and advisory teams to ensure projects meet the business needs.
  • Builds a clear and shared understanding of the talent acquisition priorities and supports the Talent Acquisition Manager, to develop strategies and solutions to meet the skill needs of the Ministry.
  • Builds strong collaborative relationships with the business to support their ownership and implementation of their Talent Acquisition strategy,

Project delivery

  • Working with the Talent Acquisition Manager and Innovation team, develops the programme of work to support MBIE’s Talent Acquisition priorities.
  • Has an in-depth knowledge, and keeps up to date with, trends in the labour market as well as the wider talent acquisition field.
  • Manages and delivers all aspects of the projects in accordance with best practice MBIE guidelines.
  • Monitor project progress against planned target dates and take all reasonable actions to keep project within planned timetable.
  • Monitoring progress, identifying emerging issues, risks, and problem solving ensuring all approval processes and any other programme agreed processes, procedures, standards, and guidelines are followed.

  • Ensures own and others safety at all times
  • Complies with relevant safety and wellbeing policies, procedures, safe systems of work and event reporting
  • Reports all incidents/accidents, including near misses in a timely fashion
  • Is involved in health and safety through participation and consultation
