The Talent Acquisition team is responsible for providing a centre of expertise for MBIE in the delivery of cost effective, efficient, and high-quality operational recruitment delivery and talent acquisition strategy. The Senior Advisor, Talent Acquisition works with the hiring manager to enable them to run high quality, efficient recruitment processes and understand, influence and deliver their talent priorities. The responsibilities of this position are expected to change over time as the Ministry responds to changing needs, the incumbent will need the flexibility to adapt and develop as the environment evolves.

Personal specifications
- Proven track record of delivering high quality talent acquisition advice and services.
- Strong technical recruitment skills (i.e., behavioural interviewing, knowledge of testing and employment checking etc.)
- Experience delivering proactive, multi channelled, sourcing campaigns with a particular focus on social media.
- Experience partnering with business to understand their needs and develop talent acquisition strategies to suit.
- Experience planning and delivering key pieces of work/projects.
- Proven ability to quickly establish and build strong working relationships.
- Strong influencing skills.
- An understanding of government decision making and recruiting environment would be beneficial.
- Must have the legal right to live and work in NZ.

Talent acquisition
- Works with managers to understand their talent acquisition priorities, focusing in particular on hard to fill roles, to deliver innovative talent acquisition solutions.
- Understands the business groups plans and talent acquisition priorities in order to influence these and develop strategies and solutions to meet the particular skill needs of the group.
- Delivers proactive and innovative sourcing strategies and campaigns, with a particular focus on social media.
- Understands and establishes networks in relevant markets to actively identify and engage with talent.
- Contributes to the design and implementation of initiatives to support MBIE’s employer brand.
- Champions the use of technology (both existing and new) to improve the recruitment processes for candidates, managers and the talent acquisition team.
- Uses Information and data to understand what is working and look for areas to improve.
- Has an in-depth knowledge, and keeps up to date with, tends in the market in which you recruit as well as the wider talent acquisition field.
Operational recruitment
- Provides advice across all steps of the recruitment process, e.g., attraction and sourcing, assessment, and selection, offer management, pre-employment checking etc.
- Coaches and supports managers to run efficient recruitment processes, hiring great people.
- Designs efficient processes for hiring managers.
Talent acquisition projects
- Key projects and pieces of work within your portfolio are well planned and actions are delivered according to plan.
- Stakeholders are identified and engaged with at the right time.
- Contributes to other projects within talent acquisition team as appropriate.
- Clear objectives and performance measures are developed, and work is reviewed to determine effectiveness and lessons learnt.
Communication and relationship management
- Builds strong relationships with hiring managers, able to coach and influence managers at any level
- Collaborates with wider P&C branch to ensure talent acquisition plans align with business/workforce planning needs and other capability/development initiatives.
Wellbeing, health & safety
- Displays commitment through actively supporting all safety and wellbeing initiatives
- Ensures own and others safety at all times
- Complies with relevant safety and wellbeing policies, procedures, safe systems of work and event reporting
- Reports all incidents/accidents, including near misses in a timely fashion
- Is involved in health and safety through participation and consultation
