Registry Services Technical Support Team (RSTS) supports internal and external users of Business Registries front facing registry systems. The Team manages everything from major incidents involving multiple registers to issues affecting individual users. The Team also runs the Business Registries minor enhancement program.

The Senior Test Analyst is responsible for ensuring consistency and quality of advice to all users. The role is critical in supporting the day-to-day registry operations and oversees maintenance releases.

The Senior Test Analyst will bring their registry subject matter expertise along with business, legislative and technical knowledge to work in partnership with the operational and project teams.

Personal specifications

  • Strong problem-solving and technical skills, to identify risk and critical issues, and propose workable solutions.
  • Experience with system development life cycle and user acceptance testing.
  • Excellent understanding of information databases, web sites and internet services.
  • Sound operational knowledge of the statutory function of the various Registrars work, practices, or practical industry or business experience, with a good knowledge of relevant legislation.
  • Planning and organising skills, including ability to maintain performance when under pressure, critical assessment of workflows, and appropriate prioritising of work.
  • Ability to quickly assimilate new information or areas of work.
  • Flexibility with working hours e.g. after hours and late nights.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Qualifications

  • A relevant tertiary qualification is desirable or comparable relevant experience, particularly in ICT system support or extensive and comparable relevant experience.

Responsibilities of this position are expected to change over time as the Ministry responds to changing needs.  The incumbent will need the flexibility to adapt and develop as the environment evolves.

The Senior Test Analyst will be required to deliver results in the following areas:

Business as usual – day to day and short term

  • Identifying and analysing issues with client facing registry systems.
  • Communicating issues to internal users and liaising with internal and external technical service suppliers on the resolution of issues.
  • Conducting comprehensive testing and investigation of system issues and resolutions.
  • Providing day to day operational support to stakeholders.
  • Monitoring and scheduling registry application day and month end jobs, managing user access permissions and user permission reviews, managing privacy/security reviews and correspondence template reviews.
  • Proactively identifying system changes that have value for operational teams and for external users that draw on insights from business support.
  • Supporting the Team Leader and working closely with the team to successfully develop and implement solutions.

Maintenance releases and projects – medium to long term

  • Responsible for registry maintenance releases in production, working with the work program team on scheduling, working with software suppliers through releases and undertaking post deployment testing.
  • Providing reporting, analysis, test scripting and as required, user acceptance testing of new and or enhanced business systems and processes.
  • Providing technical expertise into registry improvement programmes.
  • Participating in testing effort estimation, task allocation and schedule management in alignment with project objectives.
  • Reviewing business requirements and solution designs to ensure its testability and correctness.
  • Coordinating test phase deliverables and timeframes for assigned activities with stakeholders.
  • Driving and completing delivery of testing for assigned projects and system improvements.
  • Developing and executing test cases to include applications and operational readiness aspects of projects.
  • Contributing to the development and use of innovative registry design tools and approaches that generate effective registry service solutions.

  • Complies with relevant safety and wellbeing policies, procedures, safe systems of work and event reporting.
  • Reports all incidents/accidents, including near misses in a timely fashion.
  • Is involved in health and safety through participation and consultation.
