Tēnei tūranga – About the role
The Senior Business Systems Advisor plays a leading role in providing support and guidance in the delivery of SNZs digital service offerings to the public.
This is a hands-on role coordinating efforts across a wide variety of stakeholders and vendors to diagnose and resolve problems quickly with the goal to ensure that our technology infrastructure runs smoothly and efficiently.
The Senior Business Systems Advisor is recognised as the conduit for the escalation of issues out to our vendors and play a key part in troubleshooting and optimising SNZs systems. The senior advisor holds a wealth of organisational knowledge of our wider business environment in the context of the technology change we are bringing about for the Ministry and our Public Audience.
This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, analytical skills, and the ability to communicate complex issues clearly to customers and stakeholders. The Senior Business Systems Advisor will also support the Senior data Analyst in designing and implementing new system features and troubleshooting data-related issues.

Ngā herenga – Requirements of the role
Technology
- Strong knowledge and experience with Microsoft Dynamics CRM, APIs and Azure Functions.
- Not required but an advantage in the role is an understanding of .NET Core and Microsoft SharePoint.

Skills and Experience
- Up to date with changes in the technology landscape.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in database administration or a similar role.
- Credit check and police vetting may be required.
- You must have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand.
Takohanga tuhinga o mua – Key accountabilities and deliverables
System Maintenance
- Partner with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and remedy issues related to SNZ systems and its integration with other systems.
- Address, troubleshoot and work to resolve individual user issues within the system.
- You are widely recognised as the trouble-shooter for issues around our Digital Footprint.
- Build and maintain an internal wiki with technical documentation, manuals and IT policies.
- Manage and maintain the appropriate security levels and access controls for systems SNZ are responsible for.
- Monitor system event log warnings and errors, and monitor resources to ensure that system performance are optimised.
- Execute disaster recovery plans to ensure system availability during an event.
System Improvement
- Collect, track, evaluate and act upon feedback, issues, and risks received from internal and external customers.
- Prepare system change user stories and scoping documents.
- Collaborate with Manager Business Systems and Operations and solution delivery teams to prioritise change requests.
- Perform user acceptance testing and monitor application performance following a release.
- You will actively seek out new knowledge for your own personal development or the mentoring and coaching of others.
- Support the development and maintenance of APIs for seamless system integration.
Work management
- Document and maintain processes and procedures and implement improvements where feasible.
- Establish and embed processes to support system improvement and automation.
- Take a subject matter expert role in initiatives supporting SNZ’s business functions.
- Provide and maintain expertise in SNZ’s business activities and systems.
- Assist the SNZ team with ad hoc requests.
