Tēnei tūranga – About the role
The Business Systems and Operations team is responsible for the delivery of the Access function including the sales and support for Standards NZ hard copy and digital products and services for several thousand Standards NZ customers. The team also have the overall responsibility of the ICT systems that support the operations of Standards NZ team. Other responsibilities include maintenance of the standards catalogue of products; management of Standards NZ finances including risk management; and provision of business intelligence, reporting and specialist analytics to inform evidence led decision making.
The Business Administrator position will:
- Provide high quality, courteous, prompt, and efficient customer service and order assistance to customers and staff to enhance the reputation of Standards New Zealand.
- Manage existing Online Library subscribing customers and actively prospect for new customers to maintain and grow Online Library subscription client base.
- Manage the daily print order runs for on-demand, bulk and specialty item print jobs through print supplier ensuring timely delivery to customers and warehouse.

Personal specifications
- Must have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand.
- A proven track record of experience with customer service and sales is essential.
- Good interpersonal and relationship management skills and ability to work with multiple teams.
- Wide ranging knowledge of business administration systems and processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to show and use initiative and be proactive.
- A methodical approach to work. Ability to both follow and suggest improvements to established procedures.
- Good standard of computer and software literacy and word processing.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and to prioritise work to achieve MBIE outcomes.
- Willingness to work in a flexible and dynamic environment.
- Must have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand.
- Relevant tertiary qualification or extensive experience.

Critical areas of success
The Business Administrator will be required to deliver results in the following areas:
- Provide a high quality of support and service to Standards New Zealand customers and stakeholders.
- Ensure that all tasks related to sales and order fulfilments are carried out to a high standard in a timely manner following correct process and guidelines.
- Manage customer relationships effectively and actively look for opportunities to promote services to customers where relevant.
- Manage subscription services from initial enquiry and final set up through to retention, in order to meet customer needs and derive maximum value.
- Work directly with the Manager Business Systsems and Operations and Senior Business Administrator on priority administrative projects with the goal of increasing the efficiency and streamlining administrative tasks in Standards NZ, with a focus on the tasks related to servicing customers in the first instance.
- Provide direct support to projects following Standards NZ’s processes and procedures, in consultation with the Manager Business Systems and Operations and others within Standards NZ leadership team.
- Adopt a continuous improvement approach to responsibilities, continually looking to improve Standards NZ’s processes.
- Develop and implement standardised support processes.
