Tēnei tūranga – About the role

The Government Property Office is accountable for the strategic leadership of the government’s office accommodation portfolio and provisioning for the centralisation of components of the government’s property function.The Government Property Office is also responsible for delivering on MBIE's own property strategy as well as providing high-quality property management services to MBIE.

The government’s office accommodation portfolio is significant, encompassing circa 1,000,000 sqm of office space and a rental spend of circa $330 million per year across 73 agencies, including Crown Agents. MBIE is an agency with a significant property portfolio (about 10% of the government’s footprint), encompassing both office and non-office sites, across New Zealand and offshore.

A team member position in MBIE, the Leasing Coordinator supports the Leasing and Delivery team by advising, informing, monitoring progress, raising issues, contributing to the delivery functions and reporting on deliverables. In particular, the position brings the discipline of high-level administrative practice to ensure that our property support requirements are managed in line with MBIE’s and the Government Property Office systems and processes.

The position holder is expected to be able to provide support across a range of support areas although may have a particular area or focus of specialisation which will also be utilised.

  • Skilled in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and preparation of presentations.

Leasing and Delivery Support

  • Assisting the team with the implementation of the property strategies and with implementing policies, processes, and procedures that support the strategy.
  • Undertaking a range of tasks and activities as required to support the property management function.
  • Property finance and leasing administration.
  • Administration of property systems such as the Government Property Portal.
  • Assisting with providing a professional range of delivery services to MBIE and GPO stakeholders.
  • Assisting and contributing towards, Official Information Requests and any reporting for Ministers.
  • Collating information and data for reporting including the Annual Review and auditor requirements.
  • Supporting meetings – organising agendas, minutes, actions and meeting papers to support property activities.
  • Providing administrative and coordination activities for the team as required.
