The Government Property Office, hosted within MBIE, is accountable for the strategic leadership of the government’s office portfolio. The Government Property Office is also responsible for providing property management services to MBIE.
The government’s office portfolio is significant, encompassing circa 940,000 sqm footprint and a rental spend of circa $320 million per year across 70 agencies, including Crown Agents. MBIE is an agency with a significant property portfolio (about 10% of the government’s footprint), encompassing both office and non-office sites, across New Zealand and offshore.
The Data Support Analyst supports the work of the Property Information and Performance team within the Strategy & Standards unit of the Government Property Office. The Data Support Analyst will provide support to the Lead Advisor Property Information and Performance through the analysis of the Property portfolio.
The Data Support Analyst is responsible for:
- Supporting the maintenance of the Property Portal used by the Government Property Office branch and government agencies.
- Data entry, data integrity and management in key Government Property Office systems, especially the Government Property Portal.
- Supporting the wider Government Property Office staff and government agencies who are responsible for the entry and management of property data.
- Extracting, transforming and loading data from a range of sources, including lease documents, databases and operational systems, and use AI‑supported tools and analytics products to support decision‑making.

- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines in line with good customer service.
- Knowledge of public sector requirements and processes is advantageous.
Experience and Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in business or technology related discipline or equivalent experience.
- You must have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand and be able to satisfy the Ministry’s security clearance requirements.

Delivery
- Collects and enters data into the Property Portal, ensuring data is entered quickly and accurately.
- Undertake analysis of straightforward information to support reporting, decision-making and improvement of property data quality.
- Data collected from agencies is analysed, interpreted and turned into information and insights, which adds value for the Government Property Office, MBIE and government agencies.
- Maintains the integrity of data in the Property Portal and its supporting applications.
- Support the Government Property Office with ad hoc data analysis.
- Facilitates continuous process improvement in property data and the Property Portal.
- Escalates service disruptions that affect multiple users through the appropriate channels in a timely manner.
- Peer reviews colleagues work and works as part of a team to ensure a robust data administration process.
- Provides effective support to colleagues in the Property Information and Performance team by maintaining the accuracy and timeliness of data in the systems so that reporting can be generated.
- Supports agency user access to the systems that are managed by the team and continually reviews user access controls and security configurations.
- Analyse and advise any risks or business improvements on critical business process during the testing and implementation phase of new system updates.

- Actively contributes to development of and promotion of cross agency, system level views in internal and external interactions.
- Works collaboratively with colleagues to effectively manage Government Property Office records and information.
- Establishes and maintains relationships with similar functions across MBIE and within the wider public sector.
