Tēnei tūranga – About the role

This position reports to the Manager ICT Asset and Supplier Management, part of the ICT Asset and Supplier Management team to support maintaining of MBIE’s ICT assets.

The Analyst ICT Assets:

  • acts as the contact point for ICT vendors and projects deploying staff-based ICT equipment and software.
  • attends planning, preparation and staff liaison to implement changes to staff-based ICT equipment and software.
  • assists with the oversight, coordination and execution of desktop user equipment and software deployment, transfer and exchange including location moves.
  • collects, organises and records data for management information, cost recovery and the service catalogue
  • support meeting room technologies.
  • conducts ICT asset stocktakes and maintain records of deployed ICT assets (equipment and software).
  • assists with the management and administration of technology platforms.

Personal specifications

  • Some experience in ICT related practices.
  • Experience in the development and maintenance of plans and registers.
  • Some business writing capability.
  • Ability to quickly assimilate new information of areas of work, quickly establish and build strong working relationships, and to develop trust and credibility with managers and staff.
  • An understanding of ICT systems, terminology, technology, practices, and industry.

Qualifications

  • A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent knowledge, skills, and experience, and a commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Must have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand.

Responsibilities of this position are expected to change over time as the Ministry responds to changing needs.  The incumbent will need the flexibility to adapt and develop as the environment evolves.

Applies their expertise to manage and administer ICT equipment and software assets

  • captures the requirements for and plans the deployment of ICT assets.
  • advises managers on the process for and effort required to implement changes to user based ICT equipment and software.
  • liaises with staff to prepare for changes to user based ICT equipment and software.
  • laisses with Service Desk for roll-out desktop plans.
  • monitors the progress of the implementation of changes to user based ICT equipment and software.
  • provides technical desktop support to staff and directs any complex issues to vendor engineers.
  • facilitates problem resolution of deployed equipment and software that does not function as intended by helping users with the ICT support desk interaction.
  • provide technical advice and support for meeting room technologies liaising with users and vendors as required.
  • assists with the administration of ICT assets including reporting on costs, usage and consumption providing management information and cost recovery data.
  • update the Service Catalogue as required.
  • maintain registers of ICT platforms information, operational statistics and asset performance data.

Maintain records of ICT assets both equipment and software

  • stocktakes ICT assets (equipment and software).
  • maintain asset registers and records of deployed ICT equipment and software.
  • arranges the orderly disposal of obsolete ICT equipment.
  • manages stock located at MBIE Offices.
  • investigates missing equipment.
  • monitors vendors who manage MBIE’s deployed ICT equipment.
