Tēnei tūranga – About the role
The Advisor Bond supports the Principal Advisor Bond in the delivery of assurance, performance monitoring and machinery of government responsibilities (for example Official Information Act requests, complaints and Ministerial requests) for tenancy bond. This position also supports Building and Tenancy’s achievement of its regulatory stewardship aspirations and supports the Tenancy leadership team on projects and initiatives that are key to the delivery of ABODE system enhancements and benefit delivery or that are of a priority of importance for the Director Business Systems and Change.
The Advisor Bond will bring their business understanding and perspective to role to work in partnership across the tenancy regulatory system, Te Whakatairanga Service Delivery, MBIE and, to ensure Tenancy practices are developed, reviewed, documented, efficient and reflect best practice.
The role is also responsible for leading and delivering a range of practice and business owner activities representing and supporting the branch or wider Te Whakatairanga Service Delivery. This includes on key projects and initiatives, which work across the wider Tenancy system.

- Excellent awareness and sensitivity to anticipate areas of potential risk and inform decision-making.
- Ability to quickly assimilate new information or areas of work and come to an understanding of unfamiliar and complex issues.
- Proven ability to think strategically, develop frameworks and manage regulatory systems and processes.
- Knowledge of the Tenancy Regulatory system and tenancy law.
- Familiarity with process documentation and methodology, and case management systems.
- Understanding of change management and QMS.
- Good decision-making ability to seek, evaluate and synthesis feedback while developing buy in from interested parties.
- Attention to detail to ensure administrative tasks are undertaken in a timely manner.
- Demonstrated ability to identify ways of thinking about risks and issues and developing possible pathways forward.
- Good relationship management skills, with the ability to communicate appropriately and effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
- Proactively identifies key relationships and possess an ability to quickly establish and build strong working relationships.
- Understanding of MBIE and where the team fits in delivering outcomes for the Ministry.
- High integrity and able to handle sensitive and confidential information and issues.
- Excellent influencing, interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills.
- Proven ability to develop trust and credibility, willingness to work in a flexible and dynamic environment.
- Sound judgement especially around consideration of prioritisation.

Delivers quality results which contribute to the Ministry`s outcomes
- Reviewing, planning and document management of practice and guidance material.
- Provide business and practice insights for the Tenancy leadership team.
- Deliver and provide quality advice and support to teams within the branch to contribute to the continuous improvement of Tenancy’s practices, systems and processes.
- Maintain an awareness of branch issues, and provide, wherever appropriate, a branch perspective through support and advice, for inclusion into Te Whakatairanga Service Delivery and MBIE projects, policies and procedures.
- In conjunction with Learning and Development, provide training, guidance and support to our people to help them follow established practice.
- Monitor sensitive cases to ensure good outcomes for the team and the tenancy system, providing support where required. Escalates issues and risks appropriately.
- Monitoring and administration of Tenancy Change Management Process.
- Provide advice and support to ensure projects, changes and incentives are managed in accordance with the agreed standard timeframes and budgets.
- Input into quality responses to Media, Ministerial and Official Information Act requests.
- Manage the preparation of regular reports and special reporting assignments effectively.
- Support the wider tenancy system with subject matter expertise.
