Energy levy consultation

Submissions closed: 07 June 2016, 5pm

This consultation sought feedback on expanding the purpose of an existing energy levy. The discussion document considers options for expanding the purpose of one or more of the existing levies on electricity, transport fuels and gas. The intention is to enable a wider range of activities that encourage, promote and support energy efficiency, energy conservation and the use of renewable sources of energy to be levy funded.

The changes proposed would provide the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA) with greater flexibility to prioritise funding across its work programmes. EECA is the government agency that is responsible for encouraging, promoting and supporting energy efficiency, energy conservation, and the use of renewable sources of energy.

The deadline for making a submission was 5pm Tuesday 7 June 2016.
