The data release shows that the share of energy supply from renewable sources has been growing since 2020, reaching a record high of 45.5% in 2024 with strong growth in geothermal, solar, and wind energy.
Despite lower hydro inflows and declining gas production, 85.5% of electricity was generated from renewable sources, supported by new capacity additions.
Energy consumption fell slightly, down 2.1%, largely due to reduced industrial demand. Meanwhile, aviation fuel use continued to recover, reaching 90% of pre-COVID levels.
Natural gas consumption in the economy fell to its lowest since 2011.
