In February 2025, the Government launched Going for Growth, its approach to make the New Zealand economy grow faster, to increase living standards and opportunities for all New Zealanders.
The project looked at how climate change may impact New Zealand’s land-based primary industries and regional economies through to 2050/2100.
The experimental Modelled Territorial Authority Gross Domestic Product (MTAGDP) allocates GDP values to second-tier local government administrative boundaries—namely, territorial authorities—based on Stats NZ’s Regional GDP estimates.
Supporting more people into work so they can lead happier, healthier and more productive lives is the vision at the heart of the Government’s new Employment Action Plan, released by Social Development and Employment Minister Louise Upston.
