Ministerial portfolios
In 2021/22 we worked with, and supported, ministers and associate ministers across 20 portfolios. We were the lead agency for 13 of these portfolios, provided support to 5 portfolios (for appropriations within the Votes MBIE administers), and supported the Minister of Finance on the infrastructure and regulatory management system.
New Zealand Research Information System
The New Zealand Research Information System (NZRIS) will be a freely available national, online database containing information about the research, science and innovation sector.
Global Young Scientists Summit
The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) has been invited to nominate a limited number of participants for Singapore’s Global Young Scientists Summit (GYSS) on 4 to 8 January 2027. The conference will be in-person in Singapore.

Introduction to this consultation
We have seen that land agreements, such as land covenants, have been used in ways that have the potential to lessen competition in the retail fuel, groceries and residential building supplies sectors. We are now trying to understand whether similar issues exist elsewhere in the economy, and, if so, the materiality and breadth of any impacts. To do this, we are seeking your views.
