Updated 20 July 2025 This update highlights the critical role infrastructure needs to play in growing New Zealand’s economy. Good roads, schools, hospitals and other forms of infrastructure are essential in the modern world. Between now and the end of the year, $6 billion of government-funded construction projects are getting underway. They will not only improve infrastructure but create and sustain jobs from Northland to Southland.
The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) has awarded the team behind Maximising Workforce Participation for Older New Zealanders the Endeavour Fund’s highest rating of Gold Status for their research.
This section covers areas where some preparatory work has been undertaken. These work areas have been identified as important to progress. However, further policy planning, development and/or dedicated funding are required to shape up work programmes in the future.
The RSI Workforce Survey of Organisations is a new survey by MBIE designed to improve our understanding of Aotearoa New Zealand’s RSI workforce, and our RSI organisations’ workforce policies. The Survey was conducted between November 2021 and March 2022. MBIE collected data on both workforce characteristics and organisational workforce policies in a number of thematic areas.
