To ensure prosperity now and into the future, our people, sectors and regions will need ongoing adaptation to changing national and global environments. This year has witnessed MBIE’s work towards supporting our people and businesses across regions to adapt to uncertainties.
In May and June 2024 we consulted on proposed changes to the International Visitor Conservation and Tourism Levy (IVL). Following consultation, the Government has now agreed to increase the IVL to $100.
Our proposed scheme aims to cover as many workers as possible to reflect the different ways people work, ensure more people can benefit and to keep costs low.
The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) has awarded a team of researchers from GNS Science and The Cawthron Institute the Endeavour Fund’s highest rating of Gold Status for their research into the current, and historic, health and biodiversity of lakes across Aotearoa New Zealand.
The Heavy Engineering Research Levy (“the levy”) provides revenue to the Heavy Engineering Research Association (HERA), to promote and conduct the research and other scientific work into, or relating to, the heavy engineering industry.
