In 2018 we transferred $5.9 million of funding per year from Independent Research Organisation (IRO) capability funding into 3 Strategic Science Investment Fund (SSIF) science platforms across 2 IROs.

Our SSIF contracts with the IROs run from 1 July 2018 until 30 June 2024. In 2022, we agreed to extend these contracts to 30 June 2026.
Through the IRO’s, SSIF currently funds the following platforms:
- Seafood safety
- Shellfish aquaculture
- Export quality hides
