Tēnei tūranga – About the role
The International Team is actively engaged in international business registry reform programs. These programs range from the New Zealand Companies Office being directly involved with developing countries implementing online business registers, carrying out capacity building diagnostics, assisting with legislative reforms, or hosting delegation and international visits to New Zealand.
The Test Analyst within the International Team will be responsible for more than just testing duties; they will play a crucial role in maintaining a well-rounded and efficient team. This role will be responsible to identify, report and document issues/risks relevant to the Project, performing functional and exploratory testing and producing the right level of testing documentation. Beyond executing test cases, the candidate will actively contribute to the team’s administrative functions, including carrying out reports, proactively filling travel forms, and assisting with overall go-live activities and business as usual tasks.
This multifaceted role requires a dynamic individual who can not only ensuring the rigorous testing of Projects, but also contribute to the overall efficiency and well representation of the International Team.
The role will require attendance at meetings which may at times be outside of office hours and may also involve hosting international delegations and international travel.

Personal specifications
- Good understanding of software testing life cycle within fast paced delivery environments, at least one year of working experience as a Test Analyst who can do Test planning, analysis, execution, and reporting.
- Understand the bigger picture, business objectives behind the technical solutions being built to align your Test approach and testing efforts.
- Demonstrable ability to write test cases and user stories, understanding of various testing techniques and managing the complexity, timelines, priorities, and risks involved with the project releases. Familiarity managing SQL reports will be considered an advantage.
- Confident to deal with ambiguity, shifting priorities and seek support from team members as needed.
- Enjoys finding problems that can threaten value of quality, customer and business outcomes planned. Ability to provide right suggestions, recommendations for future improvements.
- Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written – you will be required to assist with meeting minutes, project proposals and writing general reports as part of international registry daily tasks.
- Experience in representing an organisation when engaging with stakeholders. Confident giving presentations and training will be an advantage.
- Ability to quickly establish and build strong working relationships and develop trust, credibility, buy-in and collaboration with managers, staff, vendors and other stakeholders.
- Commitment to grow and learn. Be curious, flexible and involved in wider initiatives within the team.
- Have a good understanding of legislation.
Qualifications
- A relevant tertiary qualification is desirable or comparable relevant experience, particularly in ICT system support or extensive and comparable relevant experience
- A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent knowledge, skills, work experience.
- Understanding of context driven test practices, exploratory test techniques, continuous testing concepts are highly desired.
- Certification or equivalent qualification or experience in Software Testing.
- Must have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand and be able to travel internationally.

The Test Analyst will be required to deliver results in the following areas:
Technology Outcomes
Provide day to day operational support to internal and external stakeholders by:
- Identifying and analysing issues, risks that can impact systems, customers.
- Effective, clear, and concise communication of issues in a language that is apt for stakeholders. Conducting appropriate testing and investigation of system issues and resolutions.
- Providing reporting, analysis, test scripting and as required, user acceptance testing of new and or enhanced business systems and processes.
- Ensuring the right level of test coverage is achieved to provide Go-Live recommendations.
- Present results of testing in a way that shows understanding and interpretation of impacts and consequences for all parties. Identifies improvements to the process and completes all defined, assigned test activities.
- Ensure that MBIE maintains best practice alignment with the ICT industry
- Support creation of Test Artefacts like Test plans, strategy documents, mind maps and Test Exit Reports.
