The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE), on behalf of the New Zealand Institute for Advanced Technology (NZIAT), is running a discovery process to understand New Zealand’s activity and capability in quantum technology.

This process seeks to understand the current landscape of quantum‑related research and commercial activity in New Zealand. We are interested in identifying New Zealand’s unique strengths, any barriers or constraints that may hinder sector growth, and how a national platform for quantum technology research could help spur international opportunities for future growth through the development of new products and services.

The insights collected through this Information Request will be used to inform advice to the Government on whether New Zealand should invest in a national platform for quantum technology research.

We welcome input from all organisations and individuals engaged, or with an interest in, quantum technology in New Zealand, across both research and commercial domains. Your insights will help ensure that a broad range of perspectives are captured and that the advice provided to Government reflects the issues and opportunities that matter most to New Zealand.
