This is the third public consultation under the new biannual update programme.

Summary

The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) seeks your views on proposals to amend the following Acceptable Solutions and Verification Methods relating to Building Code clauses B1 Structure, B2 Durability, E2 External moisture and H1 Energy efficiency:

  • B1/VM1, B1/AS1
  • B2/AS1
  • E2/AS4
  • H1/AS1, H1/VM1

The most significant proposals are:

  • buildings on ground prone to liquefaction and lateral spread will require more robust foundations
  • citing an Acceptable Solution for light steel framing housing
  • promoting energy efficient lighting.
