Snapshot findings of temporary migrant workers and employers of migrants

The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) commissioned Kantar Public (now Verian) to undertake research to provide insights into migrant worker and employers of migrant workers’ mindsets and to understand how to better reach employers and workers who are at higher risk of exploitation. These “snapshot findings” released in 2022 summarise the full quantitative report for migrant workers, employers of migrant workers, all workers and all employers, released in the same year.

Construction sector community research – Effectiveness of resources and messaging

The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) commissioned BERL to undertake research on how Immigration New Zealand (INZ) communicates with migrant workers who are coming into New Zealand on a variety of visas to work in the construction industry. This research provides insights on the effectiveness of settlement resources and messaging supplied to employers and migrants. The research study focused on three migrant worker nationalities – Chinese, Malaysian, and Filipino.

Community perceptions of migrants and immigration 2019

The Community Survey is a biennial survey (with an extra implementation in 2018 to gather information to inform the evaluation of the Welcoming Communities pilot) that aims to gather evidence about community attitudes towards migrants and immigration. The report, Community perceptions of migrants and immigration, summarises the findings primarily from 2019 but also includes some trend information from 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017, and 2018.
