The Government has announced the names of 3 new future-focused science organisations that will be formed from 1 July as part of the most significant reforms to our science system in 3 decades.
The Government has today confirmed that NIWA will be acquiring MetService as a wholly-owned subsidiary. The announcement follows the in-principle decision made last year on the acquisition.
Crown Research Institutes (CRIs) and MBIE have been working together to explore changes ahead of the legislation that will establish the settings for new Public Research Organisations (PROs).
Up to 30 PhD students each year will be supported through the new applied doctorates scheme, hosted by the University of Auckland, in partnership with Victoria University of Wellington, University of Otago and Massey University.
