New national service supporting homeowners affected by a natural disaster

Published: 19 February 2023

A new national service providing homeowners with independent support to resolve residential insurance issues resulting from natural disasters, will become available from 20 February, 2023.

The New Zealand Claims Resolution Service (NZCRS) will help homeowners across the country, find resolution, by providing access to legal, engineering and wellbeing support, tailored to their individual needs.

The NZCRS builds on the support provided by existing services, the Greater Christchurch Claims Resolution Service (GCCRS) and Residential Advisory Service (RAS). The NZCRS will replace both these services from 20 February.

Homeowners should talk to their insurer in the first instance. Those homeowners currently accessing the Greater Christchurch Claims Resolution Service or Residential Advisory Service should continue to do so until 20 February.

Further information about the new service and the support it will provide is available on the NZCRS website.
