Cyclone Gabrielle: Temporary accommodation available for all affected regions

The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment’s Temporary Accommodation Service (TAS) is now active in all regions severely affected by Cyclone Gabrielle.

TAS supports affected households to find temporary accommodation while their home is being repaired, rebuilt or they are unable to return to access their home. TAS is now accepting registrations from displaced residents who need assistance finding temporary accommodation in:

  • Te Tai Tokerau | Northland
  • Waikato
  • Te Moana a Toi | Bay of Plenty
  • Te Matau-a-Māui | Hawke’s Bay
  • Tairāwhiti | Gisborne
  • Tararua

TAS is already active in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland following the January floods. The response was extended to include those affected by the cyclone.

People who need temporary accommodation currently, or expect to in the future, should register with TAS now.

  • Visit tas.mbie.govt.nz and complete the easy-to-use online application form.
  • Call 0508 754 163 toll free and one of our call centre team can assist you with your registration.

TAS is working closely with regional civil defence and emergency management agencies to provide a seamless transition for those needing temporary accommodation.
