Legislation has progressed to enable self-certification for plumbers and drainlayers and to strengthen licensing and disciplinary systems for Licensed Building Practitioners (LBPs).
Improvements will soon be in place to strengthen occupational regulation regimes for Licensed Building Practitioners (LBPs), electrical workers and plumbers, gasfitters and drainlayers.
Lifting the capability and capacity of the construction workforce is a priority for the Government, and essential to achieving the Government’s goals for KiwiBuild, health, education, transport and regional development.
We need to lift skills and productivity to ensure the long-term growth of the building and construction sector.
