The New Zealand Institute for Advanced Technology was announced as the fourth Public Research Organisation, and will be a cornerstone of the Government’s goal to grow a high-tech, high-value economy.

The Government is backing the Prime Minister’s Science, Innovation and Technology Advisory Council’s first report. It outlines recommendations on how government investment in the science, innovation and technology system could be prioritised to deliver the strongest returns for the economy and community of New Zealand.
We are inviting proposals for joint research partnerships between New Zealand and Chinese research organisations.
Plant and Food Research receives $42.7 million per year of Strategic Science Investment Fund (SSIF) funding for 2 science platforms – Plant-based food and seafood production and Premium plant-based and seafood products.
Cawthron receives $5 million per year of Strategic Science Investment Fund (SSIF) funding for 2 science platforms – Seafood safety and Shellfish aquaculture.
The Institute of Environmental Science and Research (ESR) receives $12.2 million per year of Strategic Science Investment Fund (SSIF) funding for 2 science platforms – Human and environmental health and Forensic science.
AgResearch receives $44.4 million per year for 2 science platforms – Agri-food production and Premium agri-foods.
