The Government is investing $49 million in an Antarctic Science Platform to help us understand Antarctica’s impact on the global climate, and how this might change in a warming world.
The Government is investing in a Strategic Science Investment Fund (SSIF) platform for Space Engineering to strengthen New Zealand’s applied research capability.
GNS Science receives $29.6 million per year of Strategic Science Investment Fund (SSIF) funding for 3 science platforms – Geological resources, Geological processes and hazards, and Nuclear and isotope science.
The NZ Leather & Shoe Research Association (LASRA) receives $0.9 million per year of Strategic Science Investment Fund (SSIF) funding for 1 science platform – Export quality hides.
Plant and Food Research receives $42.7 million per year of Strategic Science Investment Fund (SSIF) funding for 2 science platforms – Plant-based food and seafood production and Premium plant-based and seafood products.
Scion receives $23.4 million per year of Strategic Science Investment Fund (SSIF) funding for 2 science platforms – Forest systems and Manufactured products from trees.
The Institute of Environmental Science and Research (ESR) receives $12.2 million per year of Strategic Science Investment Fund (SSIF) funding for 2 science platforms – Human and environmental health and Forensic science.
The Government is investing in an infrastructure platform for 2 nationally significant longitudinal studies, the Christchurch Health and Development Study, and the Dunedin Multidisciplinary Study.
In 2015 Bragato Research Institute received $12.5 million (excl GST) to establish and build a Blenheim-based research institute over a 5.5 year period from June 2017 to December 2022.
