Andrew Bridgman
Andrew Bridgman is a highly experienced public sector leader with deep expertise across the social, justice, defence and health portfolios. He joined NZIAT in March 2026, following his role as Acting Secretary for Children and Tumu Whakarae (Acting Chief Executive) of Oranga Tamariki, which he held from September 2024.
Prior to this, Andrew served as Secretary of Defence at the Ministry of Defence from 2019 to 2024. Before that, he was Chief Executive and Secretary for Justice between 2011 and 2019, where he led significant system, policy and organisational reforms across the justice sector.
Earlier in his career, Andrew held Deputy Chief Executive and Acting Chief Executive roles at the Ministry of Health and was Secretary of the Policy and Legal Group at the Ministry of Justice. His career reflects a strong track record in public policy, system stewardship, and the leadership of large, complex organisations.
