MBIE invites feedback on a proposal to address two technical open banking issues. The issues relate to the way that businesses delegate permission to authorise open banking data-sharing, and the extent to which open banking is enabled for professional trust accounts.

About this consultation

In April 2026 MBIE consulted on amendment regulations relating to the pathway to extend open banking to a wider range of business customers. 

Consultation on exposure draft amendment Open Banking regulations relating to business banking digital channels

During that consultation, two further issues emerged relating to delegation systems and professional trust accounts. MBIE now seeks feedback on a proposal relating to these two issues.
