New National Events Strategy

The move follows an independent review of New Zealand's events system which recognised our strengths as an events host while identifying opportunities to take a more coordinated approach and maximise the benefits events bring.

The Strategy will help set a long-term direction for events across the country and support better collaboration between central government, local government and the events sector.

Alongside the Strategy, work will also begin on a number of practical steps to improve how the events sector works together, provide guidance for local government, and strengthen information sharing and planning between central government, local government and industry.

Work on the Events Strategy will begin now and the Government will consider the review's broader recommendations as this work progresses.
