First wave of events funding

Published: 03 December 2025

The Government has confirmed the first wave of event funding under Events Boost Fund and Event Attraction Package, supporting a range of music, sports, arts and cultural events starting in 2026.

The successful bids include the international Ultra Music Festival coming to Wellington, a new collaboration between Six60 and Synthony in Christchurch and the new FIFA World Series featuring four teams including the All Whites in Auckland.

Investments in existing events around the country from Gore to Taranaki to Napier will be used to introduce new elements to those events or to attract more international participants and visitors.

Over $5 million has been allocated in this round, to attract visitors, boost tourism and hospitality, and deliver economic benefits across the country.

More events, including additional international acts and regional initiatives, will be announced early in 2026. In total, over 70 events are expected to receive support through the Events Attraction Package and Events Boost Fund.
