$5 million investment to attract more international visitors to regional New Zealand

Published: 07 September 2026

The Government is investing $5 million through the Regional Tourism Boost fund to attract more international visitors to regional New Zealand.

The funding will support 6 international marketing campaigns targeting visitors from Australia, North America and China, encouraging travel during spring 2026 and early summer 2027.

The campaigns bring together regional tourism organisations, tourism operators and hospitality businesses to showcase New Zealand's food, wine, hospitality and visitor experiences. The initiatives are designed to encourage visitors to explore a wider range of destinations and help spread the benefits of tourism growth across more communities.

This is the third round of funding through the Regional Tourism Boost initiative.
