The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment sought feedback on a discussion document exploring a small number of outstanding policy issues in the Plant Variety Rights Act 1987. These included Treaty of Waitangi compliance issues and operational issues relating to the Plant Variety Rights Office.
From 9 July to 9 September 2019 we consulted on an Options Paper as part of our review of the Plant Variety Rights Act 1987.
In September 2018 MBIE released a discussion document on possible options to introduce a disclosure of origin requirement in the patents regime, along with a number of design features that need to be considered if such a requirement is implemented.
