The Screen Industry Workers Act provides proposes a new model, developed by industry and supported by Government, to allow screen industry contractors to bargain collectively. The Act comes into force on 30 December 2022.
As part of action 2.5 of the Energy Package announced in October 2025, the Government is strengthening the regulatory framework for managing dry-year risk in New Zealand’s electricity system. The strengthened framework will clarify roles, provide more timely information, improve tools and ensure enduring incentives for participants to respond to evolving dry-year risk.
