Quarterly updates on broadband deployment

Each quarter, a Quarterly Connectivity Update is published reporting on the progress of the government's broadband and mobile programmes.

Upgrading telecommunication infrastructure

New Zealand is in the midst of a major upgrade of its telecommunication infrastructure:

  • the Ultra-Fast Broadband (UFB) programme and the Rural Broadband Initiative (RBI) are delivering vastly improved broadband services to urban and rural New Zealand
  • the Mobile Black Spot Fund (MBSF) is delivering improved mobile coverage on stretches of state highways and in tourism locations.
