MBIE sought feedback on what regulations should be made under the Incorporated Societies Act 2022 and what those regulations should prescribe.

The Incorporated Societies Act 2022 (the 2022 Act) and Incorporated Societies Regulations 2023 came into force on 5 October 2023. Together, these put in place a modern legal, governance and accountability framework for incorporated societies and those who run them.

MBIE sought feedback between 11 October and 22 November 2022 on what regulations should be made under the 2022 Act and what those regulations should prescribe.

The discussion document proposed regulations that would apply to societies once they are re-registered (Parts 2 and 3) as well as regulations that would apply to societies when applying for re-registration (Part 4). For more information on the proposed regulations please refer to the discussion document published above.

The Companies Office has developed a law changes hub on the Incorporated Societies Register website where societies can go for the latest information and updates on the new legislation.
