MBIE is seeking feedback on what regulations should be made under the Incorporated Societies Act 2022 and what those regulations should prescribe.

By way of context, the Incorporated Societies Act 2022 will enter fully into force in October 2023. However, in order to function as intended, it must first be supplemented by regulations.

The discussion document proposes regulations that will apply to societies once they are re-registered (Parts 2 and 3) as well as regulations that will apply to societies when they are applying for re-registration (Part 4).

For more information on the proposed regulations please refer to the discussion document published above.

Note that the Companies Office will be hosting a webinar on Wednesday 19 October at 2pm to explain the key proposals in the discussion document and to address any queries societies may have. The Companies Office has also developed a law changes hub on the Incorporated Societies Register website where societies can go for the latest information and updates.
