Consultation is now open on options for amending the Gas Act 1992.

The discussion document is looking at ensuring the Gas Act is fit for purpose in regulating the use of emerging technologies and alternative fuels in New Zealand.

It is also looking at how to improve information disclosure between parties in the gas sector in the wake of a disruption to gas supplies from Pohokura last year and the penalty regime for industry participants during gas critical contingency event.

We are seeking your feedback on 17 questions outlined in the discussion document.

The questions are based around three topics:

  • Emerging challenges for the Act
