The Bay Plaza began operating as a Managed Isolation Facility on 13 July 2020 and was a valued part of our managed isolation facilities. We thank the management and staff for their professionalism, care and attention in looking after returnees. Following a review of the Bay Plaza's ventilation system in early 2021 operational capacity was reduced to 32 rooms. This was not a reflection on its ability to function as a hotel, or on its ability to continue safely operating as a managed isolation facility as the risk presented by ventilation systems in managed isolation facilities had been assessed by health experts as low.
